This post contains no spoilers for Infinity War. Marvel’s Infinity War has just premiered and if you’re a fan of the Marvel franchise, love movies, or generally do no like movies being spoiled, you’re going to have a hard time avoiding spoilers. Marvel movies are full of Easter eggs and people will be discussing them like mad. It will come to a point where everyone will assume enough time has passed that you should have ‘seen it already’, and the spoilers will be posted without warning. It’s happened before with Game of Thrones, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here’s how you can avoid Infinity War spoilers.
Take A Social Media Break
If you’re waiting until the weekend to watch the movie, i.e. you don’t have to wait very long to watch it, you can take a social media break. It’s not that hard to put Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter away for just a few days. This won’t work if you have to wait a few weeks to see the movie and if that’s the case, try some of the other precautions.
Mute Keywords On Twitter
Twitter is going to be rife with spoilers so try using the mute feature to mute keywords on Twitter. You will want to mute the movie’s name and possiblly also the Marvel brand name to avoid Infinity War spoilers. It’s a good idea to mute all mention of every single Avenger, all the Guardians of the Galaxy, everyone in Black Panther, and all the superheroes you saw in Civil War. Most, if not all of them, will be in Infinity War and if someone doesn’t make it to the end of the movie, you don’t want to find out about it on Twitter. Also, maybe mute a few words like Death, dies, doesn’t make it, shot, killed, etc.
Avoid These Subreddits
You want to avoid the following subreddits. Some subreddits like r/movies are generally careful and use the Spoiler tag but others are out to troll you. Don’t visit these subreddits if you want to avoid Infinity War spoilers. If you still have the old Reddit design, you can hide these subreddits from r/all. If you have the new Reddit design, you can revert back to the old one and hide these subreddits until you’ve seen the movie. This list has been created by Reddit user u/UnsinkableRubberDuck.
‘); if (navigator.appVersion.indexOf(“Mac”)!=-1) document.write(”);
Use A Browser Extension
Use a browser extension to hide all mention of anything related to Marvel or Infinity War. These extensions work like the mute feature on Twitter except they will hide spoilers from every single web page you visit. If you use Firefox, give Hide Spoilers! a try. Chrome users can use Spoiler Protection 2.0. You will need to give the add-on and the extension keywords that you want to avoid. Follow the same list as that for Twitter and you should be good to go.
